It’s that time of the year again, when we run between work and Christmas, trying to get everything planned, doing the shopping rush – and travel all over the place to be with family and friends.
In our family, Christmas is a really special time of year. We all live in different parts of the world and although we keep in touch regularly, it’s never the same as being able to meet in person, see each other face to face, share stories, happy and challenging memories, and celebrate being together.
This year has truly flown past, with the usual highs and lows that come from working hard in a job we love. Nourish has achieved phenomenal growth in the last year. This is important because it means that we are able to deliver even greater impact to people who require support in their lives.
The feedback has been fantastic: from the messages about how we’ve made a difference to care teams and helped them improve quality of care and achieve better CQC ratings, to feedback on how our team convey our values, our mission and support clients even before they become clients. I’m incredibly proud of team we’ve built.
We support tens of thousands of carers, 24/7 365 days a year. We keep getting feedback of how we feel like an extension to care teams, of how carers have gained one hour per shift to put back into face to face care, and how families are getting more reassurance that their loved ones are safe and being looked after exactly as they wish. Each time we get feedback like this as good as the first – it’s exactly what we’re aiming to do.
We know Social Care is facing challenges. A green paper postponed for the umpteenth time, public spending under review, discussions on sleep-in pay rates, increased scarcity of skilled carers and nurses in social care all make for a perfect storm of bad news.
But we work with care teams everyday – and we know there is no shortage of inspirational leaders, innovative carers, and amazing teams that make the life of so many people more meaningful and purposeful, enabling choices, supporting people and their families to live fulfilled lives. The sector is full of incredible people and it’s those team that make us have a positive outlook on the entire sector.
Our common purpose is clear – ensure that people have more time to spend together and having meaningful experiences and human interactions. After all, that’s the most important aspect of caring; being together with those who mean the most to us.
We hope you’ve had a brilliant year and are looking forward to the opportunities that 2019 brings. From all of us at Nourish, we wish you and your care teams the wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Let’s keep working together on a brighter future for care!
